There are people who leave an indelible mark on every room they enter, every life they touch. Emmanuel was one of those people.
The world lost a bright light when Emmanuel Osoko, 27, was called home on June 17, 2026. Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Emmanuel grew up in Imalefalafia, Ibadan, where the foundations of a remarkable life were laid. He attended Oladipo Alayande School of Science in Oke-Bola, Ibadan, where he was brilliant and consistently distinguished himself academically.
He went on to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Ibadan, where he became a beloved and towering figure on campus. A proud member of Sultan Bello Hall, Emmanuel was famously known as the Fiery Dragon — a name earned through his commanding, passionate presence in the Literary and Debating Society (TLDS), where he won numerous debates and awards at Jaw War, leaving audiences and opponents alike in awe. He was loved and esteemed across the entire university community. True to his generous spirit, he also gave back — inspired by his mother, a teacher, he tutored 100-level students in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and later extended that same dedication to GRE and postgraduate classes as a Research Assistant.
Emmanuel relocated to the United States to pursue a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ohio University, where he continued to serve as a Research Assistant. His intellectual curiosity knew no bounds — he approached life with unbridled enthusiasm, whether nerding out about black holes and quantum physics, watching long lectures on scientific concepts just for the joy of it, or debating any topic with anyone willing to engage — including, on occasion, a bot. He had a deep love for cybersecurity and ethical hacking and lit up every time he cracked a tough challenge. As a Cloud and DevOps Engineer, he brought that same brilliance and passion to his professional work.
Beyond his intellect, Emmanuel was defined by his heart. He was a giver — of his time, his knowledge, and his resources — showing up for friends and family in moments of need without hesitation. He was present in people's lives in the truest sense. He loved football and basketball with the kind of enthusiasm that made watching a game with him an experience in itself, complete with spirited banter that made everyone around him laugh.
From his childhood in Ibadan to his years in the United States, he carried with him a spirit that was impossible to forget — generous, funny, fiercely loyal, and deeply loved.
Emmanuel is survived by his mother and his siblings, and a wide circle of friends whose lives he touched profoundly. He was taken far too soon, but the mark he leaves is permanent.
Rest well, Fiery Dragon. The world was richer for having you in it.
