In loving memory of Emma who passed away March 12, 2023 at the age of 80.
She was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, graduating from Central Catholic High School. Finishing her education with a master’s degree.
Emma had a lifelong dedication and passion for teaching in the catholic schools. She taught 7th and 8th grade Math & Science for over 40 years in the Cleveland area. Emma also coordinated retreats and class plays making a lasting impression on her students for years to come.
She met and married her loving husband Jim while teaching at the same school in 1975. Their love for teaching and their students were shared together for many years.
Emma was an extremely talented artist, especially with drawing and painting. She will always be remembered for giving the gift of sharing her artistic talents with others.
Emma is survived by her nieces and nephews, Karen Fischbach (Mike) of Delaware, Ohio, Linda Gorman (Max) of McKinney, Texas, Susan Voelkl (Ted) of McKinney, Texas, Mike Motter (Tracey) of Mantau, Ohio and Mark Motter (Janis) of Annadale, New Jersey; and many great-nieces and nephews which she also loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shockley; sister, Marilyn Motter; brother-in-law, David Motter; and parents, William and Sabina Hesse.
She was a devoted Catholic. In lieu of flowers please consider having a Mass in Emma’s honor.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. In celebration of Emma’s life, a memorial luncheon will be held in Canton Ohio, details to follow shortly.
