Emma Jane North

Emma Jane North, age 88, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2016. Jane was born September 29, 1927, to Joseph A. and Vivian (Brittain) Brigham. She graduated from Pearland High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Houston, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Jane married Daniel Andrew North, the love of her life, on December 29, 1948, and together they started a 40 year journey with Humble Oil & Refining Company/Exxon, which took their family from Houston to several stops in west Texas, as well as Oklahoma, California, and Louisiana.

Jane was a voracious reader, especially loving romance novels. She was a tennis player and an accomplished bridge player, as well as a "connoisseur" of boxed wine. Jane was a life-long Methodist, staunch Republican, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

She is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Daniel A. North; daughter, Melissa Isaac and husband, Bob; son, Brigham North and wife, Cindy; granddaughters, Courtney Clayton and Katie North, all of Dallas, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ida Belle Griffith.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home chapel located at 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas. Interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas.
