Elva Lozoya

Feb 21 1933 - Dec 03 2023

Elva Lozoya, a vibrant and beloved soul, departed from this world on December 3, 2023, in Richardson, Texas. Born on February 21, 1933, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Elva was the cherished daughter of Thomas Davila and Hermina (Naranjo) Davila. She married the great love of her life, Pedro Lozoya on December 27, 1953, in San Benito, Texas- marking the beginning of a loving and enduring partnership of over 68 years. Their great journey together shaped the path of her life and brought Elva from the cotton fields of the Rio Grande Valley to Air Force bases in Biloxi, Mississippi, and finally back to Richardson, Texas where she and her husband built their own American dream, raising five children together and succeeding as partners in giving their children a better life and nurturing an enduring love for each other that lives on in the hearts of all who knew them.

A woman of deep faith, Elva was a devoted member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Garland, Texas for many years. Her commitment to her spiritual community and to helping those in need reflected her unwavering devotion to living with the purpose of serving others. She lived simply and yet colorfully and found joy in the art of sewing, cooking, gardening, and acts of service. Elva looked forward to every family gathering and could always be found at its center- she was a people person and found her life’s enduring happiness in the company of her countless friends and family. She guided and made better the lives of her husband, her brothers and sister, multiple generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and leaves a legacy as loving matriarch of a great family, its heart, and most of all its color. Elva died the same way she lived, surrounded by family. Her enduring spirit and pure love for life lives on in the vibrancy of the ever-growing, colorful, loving family she raised and leaves behind.

She is survived by her son, David Lozoya and wife, Diann of Forney, Texas; daughter, Hilda Athey and husband, Brian Friedman of Frisco, Texas; son, Oscar Lozoya and wife, Kristine of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Irma Garcia and husband, Daniel of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Nora Robinson and husband, Michael of Yale, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lauren Douglass, Daniel Garcia II, Krista Perrine, Matthew Lozoya, Paul Lozoya, Andrew Lozoya, Rachel Garcia, Kalyn Burke, McClain Robinson, Camille Robinson, Ryan Robinson, Wyatt Perrine, and Aiden Perrine; great grandchildren, Maddox Munoz, Isla Douglass, Elouise Douglass, and McKenzie Lozoya
