Elton "Wayne" Adams

Jul 14 1939 - Feb 25 2026

Elton Wayne Adams passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 14, 1939, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to his loving parents, James Raymond Adams and Hazel Lorene (Dollarhide) Adams. He grew up in Burbank, Oklahoma where he graduated as valedictorian of his high school class, an early reflection of the dedication and excellence that would guide him throughout his life.

Wayne earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Oklahoma State University before embarking on a distinguished career as a petroleum engineer. Over the years, he applied his expertise and leadership while working with Marathon Oil, Shell, and Hunt Energy. He later continued sharing his knowledge and experience as an independent consultant, earning the respect of colleagues throughout the industry for his insight, professionalism, and steady guidance.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly on road trips in the mountains, where many cherished memories were created. He made many dear friends during the years Wayne and Beth attended the Cowboy Church of Collin County.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Mary Beth Hall Adams of Dallas, Texas; children, Steven Adams and Susan Adams, both of Wylie, Texas; brother, Loyd Adams of Ponca City, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Whitworth of Mustang, Oklahoma; nephews, Brian Adams and Greg Whitworth; and extended family members and friends who will fondly cherish and carry his memory in their hearts.
