Elsie Lee Beard peacefully passed away on November 28, 2023, in Allen, Texas, at the age of 91. Elsie was born on February 4, 1932, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to her late parents, Bartie Lee and Lottie Marie Shorter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Everett Shorter, and sisters Alene Barnes, Lois Holt, Delores Collier, and Opal Kirtley.
Elsie spent most of her career in banking, dedicating her time and skills at First National Bank in Dallas, Texas, which eventually became Bank of America. Her commitment and hard work left a lasting impression on her customers.
Elsie loved spending time gardening and had the best yard in the neighborhood! She found joy in collecting hummingbird figurines, a hobby that brought her much delight. Her favorite drink, Dr. Pepper, was always close at hand. She also cherished spending time with her family and was survived by her son, Calvin Love, and his wife Tracey, her grandson Travis Love, his wife Emily, and great grandson Campbell. She was also survived by her granddaughter, Sarah Clayton, and her husband Casey. Elsie had a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Elsie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in The Colony, Texas, where she enjoyed the sermons and worship. Her faith was an important aspect of her life.
A graveside service is planned to celebrate Elsie's life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The funeral home will be assisting with the arrangements and can be reached at their location in Allen, Texas.
