When I first moved to McKinney in 1997 I used a laundromat on 380 where I met Elsie Britton, who worked there part time. While my clothes were washing and drying I used to talk to Elsie, learned a lot about the history of McKinney (which was all new to me) and many other things that she was willing to share. I found her to be a clever and witty woman who had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. She liked peaches ... so when I would visit my parents in northeastern Oklahoma I would stop in Porter on my way back and buy fresh peaches from a fruit and vegetable business on the state highway - then I would drop off some for Elsie when I returned to McKinney. Even today I can still remember Elsie's voice, which I did hear many times during phone conversations we had as several years passed by. What a sweet, funny and ornery woman Elsie was (in my mind). I wish I'd had more opportunities to spend time with her. God bless you, Elsie! Joe Joe Ownbey, June 29, 2016 Mama bore a lot of discomfort and pain in her final days, but she is at peace now. She had requested Prayer of St. Francis, "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace", be sung at her funeral Mass. We, her family, want her legacy of peace within each one of us and peace with our entire family. With love, "Judy" Juliana Britton, July 28, 2015 Julianna, I think of you so often and was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Praying for you to be comforted. Norma Saunders Herrin, July 15, 2015 I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I have not seen her in years but she was so kind. She would bring Tony to our house to ride his horse and sit in the car for hours while he was riding. I remember sitting and talking to her and she was so sweet. Marion Crosson Ragsdale, July 14, 2015 Juliana, I am sorry about the passing of your sweet Mother. I remember her from our North Ward days and she was so kind. Prayers for you and your family. Beverly Koonce Biering, July 14, 2015 Juliana, so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your mom from St. Michael's. In the latter years, Ms. Elsie and Tony would always sit on Mother Mary's side of the church, 2nd pew. My condolences to you and your family.
