Eloise Marianne Gilmore

Eloise Marianne (Malcolm) Gilmore of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 2, 2020 at the age of 86. She was born on August 29, 1934 to Frederick Burton Malcolm and Lois Fisher (Hills) Malcolm in Price County, Wisconsin. Eloise moved to Washington, D.C. in the 1950s by herself to work for the CIA. She wanted to be a war correspondent. Eloise was a professional singer in her spare time. Eloise married Leland Thomas Gilmore, Sr. on November 26, 1960 in Nativity Church, Washington, D.C. They had 6 kids and then she went back to work for the Federal Government. Eloise was a member of the Women’s Club, Red Hat Society, Children Advocacy, Golden Notes at Frisco Senior Center and was a Civil Rights activist in college. She was always ready to fight for a noble cause, she was a trailblazer and a forward thinker. Once Eloise was dedicated to a cause there was no stopping her. She loved to laugh and be with her friends and family. Eloise enjoyed debating politics and discussing current events.

Eloise is survived by her children, Leland T. Gilmore, Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia, Patrick Gilmore of San Diego, California, Teresa Cantrell of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Shawn Gilmore of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marie Gilmore of Naples, Florida and Jennifer Sabo of McKinney, Texas; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Lois Malcom; husband, Leland Thomas Gilmore, Sr. and sister, Bonnie Brown.

A “come and go” remembrance gathering will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home with a rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002. The service will be live streamed on the following link: https://www.facebook.com/stjudesacraments
