IN LOVING MEMORY

Ellen Sue Doyle

Nov 30 1964 - Jun 22 2022

Ellen Sue (Burleson) Doyle passed away on June 22, 2022, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was 57 years old. Ellen was born November 30, 1964, to Kenneth Burleson and Susan (Burroughs) Burleson in Dallas, Texas.

Ellen had a love of vintage clothing, art, books, animals, and her Christian faith. Small in stature, Ellen had a big heart for her friends and family.  She possessed a quick wit and unique sense of style that brightened the day for those who crossed paths with her.

Ellen bravely endured a lifelong battle with the adolescent onset of schizophrenia and depression. In the last 16 years of her life, she made great strides with the help of her Bridgehaven community in Louisville, Kentucky.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bridgehaven for their services to Ellen, especially her therapist, Arti Ortega, who holds a special place in her recovery.

Ellen impacted many people at Bridgehaven. Her influence is best captured in an excerpt from a tribute written on June 22 by her friend, Tara Bassett:

There are some people who just inspire you by being themselves.

One of my biggest inspirations was a petite, bright, talented woman named Ellen Doyle. She was found this morning, passed away in her home from natural causes, after a long battle with physical issues that would’ve taken a weaker spirit a long time ago.

I met Ellen even before I worked at Bridgehaven Mental Health Services, where she received services. She was an outspoken advocate for those with mental health challenges, appeared on local media with me, was a frequent subject of my live streams, and represented Bridgehaven beautifully at our monthly awareness luncheons and annual Bridge Builder Breakfast. Her story was compelling and her delivery spellbinding. I never tired of hearing her speak.

Ellen is survived by her mother, Susan Jane Burleson of Bryan, Texas; brother, Kerry Robert Burleson (Candy) of Tioga, Texas; sister, Laura Jane Wilding (Charles) of Bryan, Texas; brother, Blake Stewart Burleson of Houston, Texas; many loving family members and friends; and especially her Bridgehaven family, who loved her dearly.

Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Stewart Burleson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends at a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bridgehaven Mental Health Services: https://www.bridgehaven.org/support/
