IN LOVING MEMORY

Ellen Edna Thompson Caston-Tabb

Dec 29 1939 - Dec 03 2021

Ellen Edna Thompson Caston-Tabb was peacefully united into her Savior’s loving arms on Friday, December 3, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born December 29, 1939, to Morris and Beatrice Taylor Thompson, in Woodville, MS., she was one of 10 children. In 1958, Ellen graduated from Capitol High School in Baton Rouge, LA, with ambitions to attend nursing school. Ellen began working as a Vault Teller with Schwegmann’s Supermarket, before pursuing a full-time career within the banking industry in the New Orleans area. She then became a personal banker with First National Bank of Commerce, Bank One, Chase Bank and later becoming a Banker’s Manager with Whitney National Bank, until she retired in 2005.

In 1960, Ellen was united in holy matrimony to Walter Curtis Caston, Jr, they were blessed with two children, Dorothea Faydra Caston and Walter Curtis Caston, III. They were married until his death. In 1993, Ellen remarried Fellman U. Tabb, Jr. They were inseparable, spending all their time together, with their families, especially their grandchildren. Ellen and “Boobie” as she frequently called him, spent more than 20 wonderful years together.

Ellen was a very kind and sweet spirited person. To know her was to absolutely love her. Ellen was very technical savvy, even up until her recent passing. She loved playing online card games, online shopping and recently mastered how to order food from Uber Eats and Door Dash, all without the assistance of her family. She had the biggest heart, always so generous, giving with love to her family and friends. Ellen loved the Lord, she was a regular attendee in Catholic services until she could no longer, due to her illness. She then began bible study online and by phone with other family members.

Ellen leaves to forever cherish her memories: her devoted daughter, Dorothea Caston-Cavalier (Tommy); grandchildren, Edrice Davis Avery (Tommie), Jeremy Route, Tommy and Aaron Cavalier and Kelcey Powell Chaney; great- grandchildren, Jason, Jr., Cyril, Tyler and Taylor Davis, Tommie Avery, Jr. Sydney and Spencer Molxey, Jr.; sisters, Lizzie Ann Jackson, Martha Dunmars, Florence Gray, Dorethea Dunmars, Sarah Jane Thomas and Ida Mae Bonin, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and an abundance of friends. Caston family members, Ebony, Ivan, and Alexander Bodden; Troy Robertson, Troychelle Lumar, Tori, Travis, and Ashley Robertson-Davis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Beatrice Taylor Thompson, her husband, Fellman U. Tabb, Jr.; her son, Walter Curtis “Curt” Caston, III.; sisters Ellouise Jackson, Lucille Jackson, and Mary Johnson; and brothers, Henry Lee and Johnny Morris Thompson, Morris, Johnny, and Simon Jackson.

Ellen will always be remembered for her sense of style, class, and her great big heart. No matter who she met, she loved them almost instantly and they became a part of her, whether they knew it or not. There were no limits to her generosity toward those she loved, family or friends, she gave from her heart. Life as we know it has changed drastically knowing that she will no longer be with us. Although we are happy and at peace with her receiving her wings, she will be missed. We love you Ellen, now and always!

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas.
