Ellen Arnetta Ledbetter went home, peacefully in her sleep, August 18, 2020. She loved The Lord and longed to be with Him and her husband and youngest son and many other loved ones.
Arnetta was born December 20, 1933 in Blue Ridge, Texas to J.W. and Mary Ruth Atterbury. She was the eldest of her three other siblings, Jackie, Eustace, and little sister, Susie.
The family relocated to Mckinney where in Junior High School she met her future husband and the love of her life, Jack Ledbetter. They were married right out of McKinney High School. Their first child, Sherri was born in McKinney and soon after they relocated to Louisiana where Jack and Brent were born.
Arnetta and her family returned to Texas in 1966. They moved to Bedford, Texas in 1967 where Arnetta was active in politics. She was elected to two terms on the Bedford City Council. Arnetta and Jack eventually resettled back where they started in McKinney where they spent the rest of their days together. They were married 65 years when Jack preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded by her father J.W.; mother, Ruth; niece and namesake, Arnetta Suzanne; son, Brent; sister, Suzanne; brothers, Jackie and Eustace; and son-in-law James.
She is survived by her daughter Sherri Ferrell; son, Jack Ledbetter, daughter-in-law, Patricia Ledbetter; daughter-in-law, Teresa Ledbetter; sister-in-law, Fran Smith; brother-in-law, Pat Ledbetter and sister-in-law, Rhonda Ledbetter; brother-in-law, Bob McClintock; niece, Joanna Castle and husband, Bill Castle and ten grandchildren, and seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Arnetta was all about evangelism so instead of flowers we are asking for donations to Men’s Encounter North, a wonderful local ministry of Evangelism and Restoration: https://www.mensencounternorth.com
