Ellen Rock of Allen, Texas passed away May 5, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born to Roy and Dorothy (Dickinson) Abel on July 31, 1953, in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Being an army brat, life took her all over the country.
As a horse lover, she spent much of her youth at the stables in Ft. Huachuca with her Appaloosa, Chief. Ellen graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She loved quilting and other arts and crafts. On February 16, 1991, she married William Rock in Park Forest, Illinois. Her stories outnumbered the stars, filled with her flair and boundless laughter. Ellen was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas and the Legion of Mary.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Bill Rock of Allen, Texas; daughter, Catherine Rock and husband, Jason of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Eileen Rock, of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Joanna Rock and husband, Scott Justiss of Garland, Texas; daughter, Talia Henehan and husband, Tim of Victor, New York; grandchildren, Tyler Henehan, Quinn Henehan, Alexa Henehan, and Maxwell Rock; and eight siblings—Dave, Joe, Tommy, John, Paul, Robert, Joyce, and Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Dorothy Abel, and brother, Jerry Abel. She is met at The Rainbow Bridge by more wonderful people and animals than we can name.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m.
