Ellen Joy Ottaway of Allen, Texas passed away June 2, 2015 at the age of 49. She was born May 16, 1966 to Charles Ottaway and Mildred Ruth (Horne) Ottaway in McKinney, Texas. Ellen was an avid reader, a masterful crossword puzzler, and a dangerous opponent for trivia contests as she was gifted with the remarkable ability to remember everything she read, heard as music lyrics, or watched on television. One of her proudest achievements was that she donated more than 50 pints of blood to Carter Blood Care. She was a member of the National Stutterers Association – Dallas Chapter and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Plano, Texas. In addition to her big family, she is admired by a large group of devoted friends.

 

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Ruth Ottaway of Allen, Texas; sisters, Elizabeth Morris of Parker, Texas, Connie Bouas and husband David of Carrollton, Texas, and Susan McCullough and husband Tom of Plano, Texas; brothers, Andrew Ottaway and wife, Deborah of Granbury, Texas and Charlie Ottaway and wife Cindy of College Station, Texas; nieces, Amy Fish and husband David, Lindsay Cheng and husband Ben, Leah Bouas and husband Adrian Hernandez, Rebecca Ottaway, and Allison Ottaway; nephews, David Morris, Bryan McCullough and wife Christa, Michael McCullough and wife Erin, Jeff Bouas and wife Maraya, Aaron Ottaway, Hays Ottaway, and Jordan Ottaway; great-nieces and great-nephews, Christopher Fish, Lauren Fish, Matt Fish, Megan Morris, Andrew McCullough, Sara McCullough, Elizabeth McCullough, Luke McCullough, Presley Kate Cheng and Gabriel Charles Bouas.

 

Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ottaway.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with Dr. Joe Parker officiating.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
