May the memories of your mom continue to bring you comfort, laughter and joy in the days ahead. Melaine Rochford, April 28, 2017 I first met Mrs. Beekman during my freshman year at Mater Christi High School. This all came about because I was being mentored by several local legends: Ray Martin, John Taylor, and of course, Roy "the Joy" Beekman, her loving son. One night, we just finished a Friday practice, and Roy invited me over to his for cordials. So there were, enjoying our cordials when mom walked in, I panicked because I didn't want Mrs. Beekman 's first introduction to me, to be tainted by my indulgence of cordials in her home! Roy smiled and said, "it's okay, she's not going to be upset, let me introduce you." Trying not to look too cordial, I get up to greet her and knocked over a cordial! She looked at me, Roy looked at me and she it's okay, but I think you better stay the night and she laughed. Roy set me up with a mop and refreshed my cordial, and that was the first impression that I gave to Mrs. Beekman, I felt horrible, but was quickly reassured that I was okay with her. I knew I was definitely in good standing, when I was awakened to delicious hot breakfast, mom's did her thing! Mrs. Beekman was and will always have a special place in my heart, she was a real "V M", which means a Village Mom! She will be missed, fondly submitted by Bernard Rencher.
