Elizabeth Spradlin Carskadden, age 78, passed away March 6, 2022 in McKinney, Texas, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with brain cancer. The daughter of Robert Fain Hicks, Jr. and Louise Elizabeth Hicks, she was a graduate of The Women's College of Georgia, where she achieved her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Elizabeth loved children and dedicated her life to teaching them. During a spring break in Pensacola, Florida, she met the love of her life, Ted Carskadden. Their lives together were filled with love, family, adventures, friends, laughter and stories.
Elizabeth adored her family, especially her four granddaughters: Madison, Merit, Dorothy, and Lane. She cherished her time with them - dance parties, holidays and vacations, long Facetime talks and in-person visits - and was very proud and supportive of their triumphs and accomplishments. She was a truly loving grandmother and will be dearly missed by them.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted, who was surely waiting for her with a scotch and water. She is survived by their daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Metcalf of McKinney, Texas, their son, Rush Carskadden of Austin, Texas, her brother, Robert Fain Hicks III of Griffin, Georgia, and many friends across the country.
Elizabeth will be remembered, and held with love in the hearts of her family until we are blessed to be with her again.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth's honor to The Cancer Research Institute.
