Elizabeth Grisham

Elizabeth Grisham, age 99, of Tyler, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 6, 2007, at East Texas Hospice Homeplace in Tyler, Texas. Mrs. Grisham had resided in the home of her daughter, Carol and her husband, Robert Newton, for the past four years. She was born May 30, 1908, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Julius and Edith Lahn. She came to Texas in 1920 and was raised in the home of Rev. and Mrs. D. D. Archey of Bailey, Texas. Mrs. Grisham married James Albert (Abb) Grisham on October 13, 1945, in Leonard, Texas. She was a homemaker and a friend to all who knew her and was a member of the Hickory Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Newton and Betty Crim, both of Jacksonville, Texas; step-children, Woodie Grisham of Salado, Texas, Pauline Morse of Dallas, Texas and Martha Pace of Manhattan Beach, California; sister-in-law, Audie Meason of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Niette and her husband Scott of Butler, Georgia, Kimberly Owens and her husband Mike of Palestine, Texas, James Kevin Crim and his wife Wendy of Conroe, Texas, and Janna Crim and her husband Michael McMahon of Conroe, Texas; eleven step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Grisham was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Grisham; all four siblings, Julius Lahn, George Meason, Anna Ross and Carolyn Watson; step-sons, Noel Grisham and Charles Thomas Grisham; and step-daughter, Prebble Quinn. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the Leonard Cemetery with Chaplain Robert Newton officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Michael D. Owens, James Kevin Crim, Darrell Grintz, Jesse and Wesley Owens and James Grintz. Honorary pallbearers are James Crim, Michael McMahon and Dr. Scott A. Niette.
