IN LOVING MEMORY

Eleanor Jane Anderson Morton

Dec 23 1939 - Dec 16 2022

Eleanor Jane Anderson Morton of McKinney, Texas passed away December 16, 2022 at the age of 82.  Jane was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1939 to Jacob George Anderson and Ruth Louise (Glasgow) Anderson. She was a graduate of Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania where she excelled in the classroom and served as the manager of the lacrosse team.

Jane met her future husband, David Hugh Morton, at their local church. Jane continued her education at Lankenau Hospital Nursing School and fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse.  David proposed at Christmas time in 1959, and they were married on September 3, 1960 in Philadelphia.  They moved to Michigan as David was serving in the U.S. Air Force. After additional moves to Dallas, Washington, D.C, Baltimore, and Boston, they finally landed in Houston, Texas in 1968.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse.  She was an active volunteer at her daughters’ schools, a Girl Scout troop leader, Bible Study Fellowship leader, and dedicated community volunteer.  Jane loved gardening, flower arranging, sewing, decorating, and reading.  She also loved her various collections.  Jane had a lengthy career in neonatal, pediatric, and labor and delivery nursing care at hospitals across the country including Rosewood Medical Center in Houston, Texas, Fort Bend County Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, and at Richardson Medical Center when the Mortons moved to the Dallas area in the 1980s.

Jane loved spending time with family.  Some of her happiest memories were of summer vacations spent at the beach in Seaside, Florida surrounded by her daughters, sons-in-laws, and five growing grandsons.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Anderson.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, David Hugh Morton of McKinney, Texas; daughter Beth Morton Stubblefield and husband Randy of Richardson, Texas; daughter Jennifer Morton Lake and husband Greg of McKinney, Texas; grandsons Andrew Stubblefield, Daniel Stubblefield, Adam Lake, Grant Lake, and Samuel Lake; sister Elizabeth (Beth) Anderson Shump and husband Jim of Plant City, Florida; three nieces; five great-nephews, and other extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  A private family graveside service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
