Eldon Scott

Eldon Scott of Allen, Texas passed away on February 21, 2019 at the age of 87.  He was born on November 16, 1931 to James Thomas and Emma (Snider) Scott in McKinney, Texas and was one of ten siblings.  Eldon joined the Marine Corps in 1951 with his twin brother, Weldon, and proudly served his country, advancing to the rank of Captain and retiring in 1970. He married Barbara Hatfield in 1951, a distant relative of the feuding Hatfields and McCoys.  She preceded him in death in 2003. In 2004, Eldon married Virginia Sorensen. He loved working in his vegetable garden and sharing the produce. Eldon liked poetry (his own), penning some two hundred eighty poems; some silly, some serious, religious, romantic and about everyday life.  He also liked to work jigsaw puzzles. He had a large repertoire of jokes to give people a good laugh.  Eldon's spirit was kind, gentle and demonstrated the fruit of the spirit. Eldon was baptized into the Church of Christ in 1945 and he remained a member until his passing.

 

Eldon is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginge” Scott of Allen, Texas; daughters, Sherrill Watkins and husband, Herb of Shafter, California and Kathy Dyess of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Watkins and wife, Lindsey, Natalie McKendry and husband, Ojay, Aaron Dyess and wife, Lauren and Amanda Barrientos and husband, Rich; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Cristian, Rhiannon, Isabella, Layla, Chelsea, London and Ivan; and numerous other loving family and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; James and Emma Scott; eight brothers and one sister.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
