Elder Owen Glenn Rushing

Elder Owen Glenn Rushing of Merit, Texas passed from this earthly home on Monday, October 12, 2020.

He was born June 27, 1938 near Blue Ridge, TX to Charlie and Mary Francis Webb Rushing. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church on the first Sunday in July 1951 at the age of 13.  He was ordained to the office of Deacon on the first Sunday of January in 1957, along with his father, Brother Charlie Rushing and his cousin, Brother Charles White.

He served in the U.S. Army from June of 1959 until May of 1961.  The Lord led him to marry the love of his life, Mary Frances Kirk Rushing, on February 14th, 1961. 

 He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on May 21st, 1972.  He served as pastor of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church near Bonham, TX for 17 years and Lone Star Primitive Baptist Church at Tioga, TX for 8 years.  He served as Pastor and Co-Pastor of Farmersville Primitive Baptist Church until the time of his passing.

 He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances, of 59 years, his three children:  Dawnelle Collings and her husband Chuck, of Wills Point, TX; Royce Rushing and his wife Amy, of McKinney, TX; LaNeigh Jones and her husband, Scott, of Wylie, TX; 17 Grandchildren, and 22 Great-Grandchildren; Brother, James Rushing of Wills Point, TX, Brother and Sister-in-Law, Edwin and Joyce Rushing of McKinney, TX, Sister and Brother-in-Law Annie Ruth and James Worley of Tyler, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Francis Rushing, granddaughter, Ashlee Rounsavall,  grandson Justin Rounsavall, Great-Grandson Joseph Bennett Collings II, and sister-in-law Annell Rushing.

Visitation will be Friday, October 16th from 6-8pm at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, TX.

Services will be held Saturday, October 17th at 10am at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, TX with interment immediately following at Bethlehem Cemetery Northeast of Farmersville.

 In lieu of flowers, donations to the Farmersville Primitive Baptist Church would be welcomed.
