Eileen Joyce Haese (91) passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022. She was born on November 19, 1930 in New Rockford, North Dakota and moved to Seattle, Washington when she was nine years old. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Washington. She taught school in Washington and Idaho while her husband was in the Air Force. She was married to Walter Paul Haese for 65 years before he passed away at the age of 90 in 2020.

She was very active in her Lutheran faith and her community wherever she lived. She resided in Slidell, Louisiana for 49 years. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church and were founding members of Lamb of God Lutheran Church. She was actively involved in Fellowship, Choir, JOY Bible Study and Quilting. In addition, she was very active in the Slidell community with Junior Auxiliary (local and national), SMH Parenting Center, American Heart Association and the SMH Health Alliance. She played bridge well into her eighties and was always a gracious hostess.  She moved to Texas in May of 2021 so that her final days could be spent close to her son Tim and daughter-in- law Laurie, and to better accommodate her health needs.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Myrtle Odegard; in-laws, Walter and Irma Haese; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Jim McGoey; sister, Marilyn Ancil; niece, Janine Ancil; and brother and sister-in-law Walter and Eunice Zunker. She is survived by her son, Tim (Laurie) Haese of Plano, Texas and 4 grandchildren: Mike (Stephanie) McGoey of Slidell, Louisiana; Hannah (Tanner) Bergman of Edmond, Oklahoma; Kristen McGoey of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Sean McGoey of Slidell, Louisiana. She also had four great granddaughters: Catie and Abby McGoey, and Eilee and Birgit Bergman.

Other survivors include Janet (Frank) Tresch, Dan Ancil, Heidi (Don) Spotts, Karen (Richard) Mabry, Judy (Pete) Anderson, Mike (Chris) Tresch, Linda (Steve) Omanski, Linda (Rex) Fritz and Sheri Ancil Moret.

She was always a proud wife, mother and MorMor (Norwegian for grandmother). She was also very proud that she was 100% Norwegian. She was a great friend and enjoyed many friendships and they were a great source of joy and support for her.

We loved her immensely and we will all miss her relentless spirit, her cookies and how well she loved us.

A graveside gathering at the Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022 in celebration of Eileen where her ashes will be buried with Wally.  All who would like to attend are welcome.

If you would like to make a donation in her honor, they can be made to Lamb of God Lutheran Church 57210 Allen Road, Slidell, Louisiana 70461 or to the American Lung Association.

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.   Proverbs 31:31

When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.    James 1:2
