Eiko Iwashita Hembree, age 87, of Allen, Texas, passed away March 8, 2016. Eiko was born in Yokohama, Japan on March 17, 1928, to Eitaro and Tome (Takahashi) Iwashita. She married Robert Lee Hembree, Jr. on November 30, 1953, in Yokohama, Japan. Eiko was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a social club, as well as a member of First United Methodist Church in Allen.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Donald Hembree and wife, Karen of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Susan Beaston and husband, Marty of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Hembree and wife, Christine of Shanghai, China, Matthew Hembree and wife, Elizabeth of Fort Worth, Texas, Ryan Hembree and wife, Katie of Richardson, Texas, Carly Lingo and husband, Shane of Allen, Texas, Amanda Shoffner of Leander, Texas, and Marty Beaston, Jr. of Paris, Texas; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Fumiko Asaba of Yokohama, Japan; and brothers, Kokichi Iwashita and Takeo Iwashita, both of Yokohama, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
