Edwin Even Santiago-Aponte of Lucas, Texas, passed away July 26, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on April 18, 1948, in Puerto Rico to Efrain Santiago and Cecilia Aponte, Edwin lived a life marked by deep dedication—to his country, his passions, and above all, his family.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Edwin served his nation with honor and integrity. After his service, he continued to find community and camaraderie as a member of a veteran’s motorcycle club, where he forged lasting friendships and shared the road with those who understood the bonds of service.

On June 19, 1971, Edwin married the love of his life, Afortunada Gomez, beginning a partnership that would span over five decades filled with devotion, resilience, and joy.

Edwin was a man of many talents and interests. He had a keen eye for photography, a deep love for music, and expressed himself beautifully through the saxophone. Whether behind a camera lens or playing a soulful tune, he brought warmth and life to those around him.

But perhaps nothing brought Edwin more joy than time spent with his family. He cherished every moment—whether it was a simple gathering, a shared meal, or just a quiet conversation. To his loved ones, he was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support.

Edwin Even Santiago-Aponte will be remembered for his kind heart, his creative spirit, and his unshakable love for those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of service, passion, and enduring love.

He is survived by his wife Afortunada Gomez of Lucas, Texas; daughter, Sharon Santiago and husband, Pedro of Allen, Texas; daughter, Sheila Febo and husband, Alex of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Shirley Santiago and husband, Eric of Miami, Florida; granddaughter; Andrea Colon and husband, Blake of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Lenny of Allen, Texas; granddaughter, Alianny of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Dylan of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Nadav of Miami, Florida, and a host of other loving family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.

The family will receive guests during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
