Edward Allen Rhodes of Plano, Texas tragically passed away December 31st, 2019 at the age of 64. He was born to Aaron and Sally Rhodes in Baytown, Texas. Ed was raised in Jasper, Texas, attended Stephen F. Austin University where he was a member and past president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. It was at SFA that he met the love of his life, his beautiful Debbie. Upon graduation he moved to the Dallas area and made Plano his home. Ed was a family man that volunteered for any activity his children were involved with from baseball coach, choir and softball booster, scoreboard operator, number one fan, cheerleader and encourager. He loved large family gatherings and was a wonderful cook. Ed was a Christian and had a servant’s heart. He spent 41 years in a job he dearly loved and was well respected by coworkers and clients alike. Ed never met a stranger, he served as both friend and mentor to many and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife Deborah Burton-Rhodes; son, Austin Rhodes; daughter, Aubrie Rhodes of Plano, Texas; siblings, Janie Stephens and husband, Edward, Richard (Rick) Rhodes and wife, Tammy, Melinda Schurr, Carroll Rhodes and wife, Jennifer; sister-in-law, Kimberly Burton Dean and husband, Jim and their daughter Danielle; brother-in-law, Kevin Burton and wife, Jan. Also left to morn his passing are beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding Edward in death are his parents; sister-in-law, Dawn Rhodes and brother-in-law, Fred Schurr.
A funeral service will be at 11:30am, Friday January 10, 2020 at the Chapel of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park Allen, Texas.
