It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Leon Self announces his passing on November 29th, 2018, at the age of 79 years.  Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Christa and his children, Eddie (Janet), Scott (Paige), Heidi (Justin) Fuller, and Christian (Meghan). Ed will also be fondly remembered by his twelve grandchildren, Eddie, Corey, Jacob, Katelyn, Noah, Olivia, Maddox, Merik, Malin, Tatum, Bond and Piper, by his brother, Calvin (Rene) and by sisters Nancy (Ken) Condry and Sharon Kay (Dave) Weaver.

A native of Flour Bluff, Texas, Ed joined the United States Army in 1961, and was stationed in Germany where he met Christa. He attended Michigan Tech University, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering, then relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he began his professional career with Collins/Rockwell.  Ed retired from Northern Telecom in 1999 after a seventeen year career there.

Ed enjoyed travelling, he and Christa would regularly take trips to Europe and Asia, most recently spending two months in the Germany this past summer.  At their second home in Corpus Christi, Ed was able to pursue another favorite interest, spending countless hours fishing.  In recent years, Ed was especially passionate about cheering on his grandchildren as they participated in their various sport activities.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with Rev. Tim Radkey officiating. Interment is to follow at Rigeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
