Edward Coe Gordon, Ed to everyone who loved him, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, June 13th after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on February 21, 1963, in Great Falls, Montana, the son of Coe Gordon and Patricia Patterson Gordon. Ed discovered early on one of the greatest passions of his life: being on the water. At just three years old, he found his footing on water skis and that early sense of fearlessness and adventure never left him.
Music became his second great love, and he carried it with him everywhere. More importantly, he passed it on to his children. If you ask any one of his kids, they will tell you some of their favorite memories with him involved riding in the car and being quizzed on the music playing on his favorite classic rock stations to ensure they had an early and long-lasting appreciation for the kind of music that meant so much in his life.
At work, Ed was the kind of person others quietly depended on. Across every role he held, his expertise and consistency earned him a kind of respect and trust others can only hope to achieve.
On December 22, 1995, he married the love of his life, Karen Wright, in Camden, Arkansas. Together they built something lasting: a home, a family, a life stitched together with love, laughter, and partnership. When the two of them said, “for better or for worse” they truly meant it.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Gordon of McKinney, Texas; his children, Emily Bell Lawson (Shane Pryor) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Austin Gordon (Alyssa Snow) of Richardson, Texas, Sean Gordon (Mattie Joyner) of New York, New York, and Ashley Gordon of McKinney, Texas; and his grandchildren Ryan, Ruby, and Theo, who brought him a joy unlike any other. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Gordon of Paulding, Ohio; his brother, Mike Gordon of Franklin, Ohio; his sister, Terri Lane (Bill Lane) of Fayetteville, Georgia; and a wide circle of friends and extended family whose lives were made richer by his presence. He was preceded in death by his father, Coe Gordon.
Ed had a soft spot for animals (and animals had a soft spot for him) that said everything about the kind of man he was. The family invites those who wish to honor him to make a donation to 4 PAWs in Ruston, Louisiana, https://www.4pawsrescueinc.org/donate.
A celebration of Ed's life will be announced by the family at a later date.
