Edna Faye Puckett, age 90, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 18, 2024. Edna was born May 5, 1933 to Carnie Lee Nicholson and Dewitt Talmadge Nicholson in a small town in East Texas. She married James Asa Puckett Sr. on June 30, 1955 in Quitman Texas. They had three children, James Asa Puckett Jr., Carol Puckett Lockwood and Timothy Charles Puckett.
Edna was a member of First Baptist Church, McKinney from 1979 to present. She wanted everyone to love the Lord and give their life to Jesus as she did at a very young age as a teenager. Her grandfather would read the Bible to her by coal oil lamp every night. Edna loved being a Pastor’s wife and took it very seriously which kept her very busy every day with church activities and witnessing to the lost. She graduated from Texas Women’s University with a teaching degree and taught briefly in the classroom then carried her career out as a part-time tutor at various learning centers.
Edna is survived by two of her three children, Carol Puckett Lockwood of San Antonio, and Timothy Charles Puckett (Tina Flowers Puckett) of Allen; daughter-in-law, Karen Thackeray Parker; grandchildren, Cody Lockwood, (Jessica), Caitlyn Lockwood Flores, Timothy James Puckett, Joseph Marvin Puckett, Ash Callaway, (Sarah), Jon Callaway (Britta) of Allen and Jacob Callaway, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Sebastien Arthur Flores, Isabella Rose Lockwood, Taylee Callaway and Rae Lynn Callaway
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, James Asa Puckett Sr, her oldest son James Asa Puckett Jr., and precious Lilly Callaway. Also preceded in death by her mother, Carnie Lee Nicholson and father, Dewitt Talmadge Nicholson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at First McKinney Church. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will be held at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas following the service.
