Eddye Jo Culberson

Eddye Jo Culberson of McKinney, Texas was born June 29, 1926 and passed away September 17, 2008. She was the last of eight children born to Edgar Joseph and Mary Lee Hensley and named after her father. Eddye Jo lived life to the fullest, leaving behind a grand legacy of patriotism, service, and faith. She was a member of Saint Michael's and Saint Jude’s Catholic Church. She was a leader in the Blue Army, a member of the Alter Society at Saint Michaels, Mary Movement of Priest, Work of the Holy Angels and right to life in McKinney, and Brown Scapular and participated in a mission trip to the holy land. She attended Saint Mary’s grade school in Celina Texas. After graduating from Celina, she continued her education in nursing school. Many of her years were spent working as a nurse at Collin County Memorial hospital, and she even taught nursing school. During World War II, she was a singer at USO functions for the troops. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar Joseph and Mary Lee Hensley, husband Louis Culberson, and daughter Edith Macias Burton. She leaves behind her children Michael and spouse Sheila Whitehouse, Terry and spouse Joyce Whitehouse, Mary and spouse John Denny, Nancy and David “Cookie” Arroyo as well as grandkids Billy and spouse Cindy Sandlin, Boady Sandlin, Mindy and spouse Michael Box, Terry Jr. Whitehouse, John and spouse Sunday Skinner, Dandy Whitehouse, Marcie Whitehouse, Robbie and spouse Haley Williams, Rowdy Arroyo, Katie Arroyo, Jeff Carlson, Emily Arroyo. Great grandchildren include BJ Sandlin, Jacob Box, Sarah Williams, David Arroyo, John Carlson, Julie Carlson, Jared Box, Lilly Carlson, Natalie Carlson, Cash Williams and many other loved ones. Eddye Jo will be missed but not forgotten. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to friends, neighbors, and fellow parishioners for their help and prayers. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM, Saturday, September 20, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas with Father Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
