Eddie Paul Good passed away February 16, 2024, at the age 96 in Dallas, Texas. He was born April 14, 1927, to Paul Good and Garland Mitchell in Bronte, Texas. Eddie married Billie Roberts on November 17, 1953, in Robert Lee, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church Plano in Plano, Texas.
Eddie was honored to be born in Coke County, an Army Air Corps corporal, OU Boomer Sooner and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Eddie liked to tell the story of his “sordid” past, growing up in jail. Just to clarify, he was the son of the Coke County Sheriff who lived with his family in the Old Coke County jail. After his sister Katie Sue left for college, he was able to move into her room. This was actually the first-floor cell that led to all the cells on the second floor. One “benefit”, the ceiling was actually the trap door to the gallows (luckily never used!).
In 1944, Eddie graduated from high school at 17 and got permission from his parents to join the military, serving in the Army Air Corps until 1947. After Eddie graduated from OU with a Petroleum Engineering degree, he began work for Sun Oil. Prior to marriage, Eddie worked at Sun Plant in South Texas. After marrying Billie, they resided in Silver and soon moved back to Robert Lee. Beginning in Robert Lee, Eddie and Billie followed the oil patch for almost 40 years with stops in Carthage, Longview, Lafayette, Missouri City and finally Plano. Each move led to more friends. After retirement they were able to expand their travel and visited Europe several times. Again making new friends on a different continent. Both were avid readers, keeping lists of all the books they had read. Eddie loved a good pun, airshows, playing and watching golf and seeing his grandson Jake play baseball.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Good and wife, Pam of Allen, Texas; grandson, Jacob Ross Good of Allen, Texas; nephews Fred Bruce Parker and William Parker along with numerous friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Garland Good; son, Kyle Dwaine Good; sister, Katie Sue Parker; brother-in-law, Fred Parker; and his wife of 65 years, Billie.
Many thanks to all his caretakers at Fountain View in the last couple of months. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
