E. Zane Morse, age 41, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away December 19, 2016. Zane was born August 6, 1975, in McAllen, Texas, to Everard Eugene and Deborah Kay (Burgman) Morse. He grew up in Pharr, Round Rock and Bryan, Texas. His passion for music began in grade school in Round Rock and throughout high school where he competed and played in the marching band, graduating from Bryan High School in 1993. Zane earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business-Information Technology from UT-Dallas. Through the years, Zane worked for many institutions and was highly sought after by employers because of his multi-talented ability to project manage, transform and build teams, mature the company's processes and shepherd high-risk or high-growth companies within highly-regulated industries.
He is survived by his partner of fifteen years, Jason Gonzalez of Lewisville, Texas; parents, Eugene Morse of Sherman, Texas and Deborah Records and husband, John of Gunter, Texas; sisters, Daphne Cooley of McKinney, Texas and Natalie Goetz and husband, Jon of Gunter; nieces and nephews, Bailey Cooley, Reese Cooley, Garrin Goetz, Weston Goetz, and Landyn Goetz; extended family, Jamie Ramirez and husband, Keith; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Zane’s favorite holiday was Christmas. He loved to decorate both inside and out to bring joy and happiness to family and friends. Thus Zane and Jason began an annual tradition where they hosted a Christmas party at their home so everyone could gather for amazing food, delicious desserts, signature "Poinsettia" cocktails and an abundance of holiday cheer. They were always up for hosting fun events which brought family and friends together.
Zane had the most infectious laugh…some would call it a giggle. Once you heard it, you could not help but laugh too. He could find the humor in almost anything. With his strong beliefs, whether political or personal (i.e. Equality), Zane showcased his intellect, clever humor, quick-wit and when necessary, sarcasm. These same qualities made him able to push you personally to see new perspectives, to challenge you individually, so if you engaged him in conversation, you had to be ready to explain your reasoning to “help him understand” your perspective. He was extremely generous, caring, and thoughtful. It’s all of these brilliant characteristics that made it impossible not to love Zane.
Zane loved life and lived it to the absolute fullest. Zane and Jason's love of travel provided them with extraordinary experiences while visiting some of the most beautiful places in the world together. One of Zane’s personal goals was to visit 50 countries by the time he turned 50 years old; Jason, with support from family and friends, is planning to fulfill this desire in Zane’s honor.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America be made in Zane’s honor.
