IN LOVING MEMORY

Dwight Robert Green

Sep 25 1937 - Feb 12 2025

Dwight Robert Green, 87, of Allen, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2025. He was born to Wesley and Edna Green on September 25, 1937, in Dodge City, Kansas. Dwight graduated from Windthorst High School in Kansas and received an Associate of Arts degree from Dodge City Community College. He also had his pilot's license.

On June 14, 1958, Dwight married Charlene Tasset in Spearville, Kansas. Together, they shared a life full of love, joy, and memories for over 65 years.

Dwight was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City, where he was a long-time member of the Adult Choir and the Knights of Columbus. After moving to Allen, TX, they joined St. Jude Parish, where he was actively involved in his faith as a member of the "That Man is You" ministry and the "Christ Renews His Parish" ministry. His commitment to the church and its community and his love of Jesus will impact all who knew him.

Beyond his devotion to family and faith, Dwight had a variety of passions. He was an avid golfer and a talented singer. Dwight and Charlene loved bowling, and he enjoyed playing Bridge and Spades with friends and family. He also loved coaching his sons in baseball. In his later years as "GPA Dwight," he often saw his grandchildren participate in various sports games, plays, shows, and concerts, which he immensely enjoyed.

Dwight's kindness, faith, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who know him. His favorite thing to say as he was leaving anywhere was, "Glad you got to see me."

Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Green, and their four sons, Kelly Green and his wife Julie; Kevin Green and his wife Carrie; Kent Green and his wife Lisa; and Jeff Green and his wife Stefeni. Dwight has 12 grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Preston, Ryan, Meredith, Jessica, Grace, Rachel, Jakob, John, Rebekah, and Cannon, and three great-grandchildren: Phoenix, Kendrix, and Lennix. He is survived by 6 of his siblings; Dick Green, Kathy Stegman, Kay Schmitt, Emily Green, Mark Green, and wife Sonya, Carol Glenn and husband Larry, and Donna Green, wife of Alan Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Edna Green, and three siblings, Linda Offerle, Jan Starks, and Alan Green.

A Rosary Service will be held at 9:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75013.  A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
