DWIGHT HARTZELL – Flown West

Dwight Hartzell peacefully passed away February 28, 2025, with his loving wife, Linda, by his side.

Linda and Dwight were married in 1983 at the Coco Palms on Kauai and celebrated 42 years of marriage.

Dwight began his aviation career flying A-1s for the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war. He flew 175 missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star among many other commendations. After 10 years with the U.S. Air Force, he was hired by Braniff International in 1966 and stayed until the first bankruptcy in 1982. He then flew for a series of airlines including Regent Air, Orion, Air National and UPS, and then retired in 1994.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Linda of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Cindy Regan of Maryland; and brother-in-law, Ron Hatzky of Iowa. Dwight was predeceased by his son, Douglas Hartzell, and his parents, Conrad David Hartzell and Ada Kinsey Hartzell.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 3:15 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2025 at DFW National Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
