Durwood Edwin Gorthey

A Memorial Service for Durwood Edwin Gorthey, 75 year old Leonard resident, is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday October 15, 2016 at the Leonard Community Fellowship Church, located at 607 E. Bois D’ Arc Street in Leonard. Rev. Jim McIntire will officiate and Funeral Honors will be presented by the United States Marine Corps.

Durwood was born June 12, 1941 at Buffalo, New York. His parents were Edwin Fonzo and Julia Barbara Katzer Gorthey. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He owned and operated Airport Collision Auto Body Shop and he attended the Grove Hill Methodist Church. He passed away at his residence Monday October 10, 2016.

He is survived by his wife: Delana Denice Gorthey of Leonard; son: Kyle Gorthey of Leonard; daughters and sons-in-law: Aleshia and Kevin Dolab of Asheville, North Carolina and Derinda and Tim Grief of Dolgeville, New York; son: Justin Steelman of Leonard; daughters and sons-in-law: Ashley and Michael Dawson of Leonard and Brittany and Rod Bowman of Germany; brother and sister-in-law: Lawrence and Connie Gorthey of Lakeland, Florida; brother: Leslie Gorthey of Pennellville, New York; sister: Maureen Richardson of Phoenix, New York; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gloria and Chuck Lewis of Bolivar, Missouri and Eudora and Al Dell’Aglio of Sarasota, Florida; aunt: Irene Cook of Plano. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Terry Gorthey, and a brother-in-law, Carl Richardson.
