Drew Henry Roberts Poynor, age 98, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023.She was the youngest of nine children, born to Crayton Monroe Henry and Mary Robert Head Henry. She was the last surviving sibling.
Born on April 13, 1925, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, she moved to a farm near Troup and Tyler, Texas at the age of three. She went to school in Whitehouse, Texas, prior to moving to Mineral Wells, Texas, where she spent the rest of her childhood.
She met the love of her life, John N. “J.N.” Roberts, when she was sixteen. They married on July 30, 1942, and had two daughters, Joey Neal and Sandra Jenette. After twenty eight years of happiness, John passed away at the age of forty-eight. On July 21, 1971, she married T.W. “Wythe” Poynor. They shared six years of life together before his passing in 1977.
Drew Henry Roberts Poynor was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. She touched the lives of countless people in a uniquely special way, and she will be missed by those who were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by her daughters, Joey Fuller and Sandi Freemon; grandsons, Steve Faris, Riley Barrett, and Todd Spradley; and granddaughter, Teresa Seyrek. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carmen Harvey, Daisy Brown, Dorothy McGrew, and Jean Southern; brothers, Novis Henry, Fallis Henry, John Henry, and Earl Henry; as well as her grandson, Eddie Barrett, Jr. In addition, she leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and multitudes of dear friends. Indeed, she led a life well lived.
A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Memory Gardens in Weatherford, Texas.
