Dr. Charles Jerry Norrell, age 73, of Fairview, Texas, passed away February 6, 2015. He was born on August 5, 1941 in Dallas, Texas, to Charles Wilson Norrell and Nellie Mae (Perry) Norrell. On February 14, 1964, Jerry married Janice Carol Williams in Dallas. He graduated from W. W. Samuel High School in 1959. Jerry received his bachelor degree in physics from the University of Texas at Arlington; received a fellowship for graduate study at Texas Christian University and completed his PhD at Baylor University; he did a post-doctoral fellowship from 1970-1971 at Oklahoma State University. Jerry began his career at Addressograph Multigraph in Ohio; he later worked for St. Regis Paper Company, and later DuPont, in New York and in McKinney; he later managed his family’s sheet metal company, Norrell Sheet Metal in Dallas. Jerry ended his career as an academic advisor and professor, at Collin College and later Richland College, where he was honored for Outstanding Professor. He attended First Presbyterian Church in McKinney.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Norrell of Fairview, Texas; children, Charles Griffin Norrell and wife Wendy of Mustang, Oklahoma, Justin Williams Norrell of McKinney, Texas, Melissa Blythe and husband Brandon of Wylie, Texas and Rhonda Sawyer of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Eleanor, Elliott, Brittany, Brooke, Blake, Brett, Marissa and Sloane. He is also survived by a sister, Teri Cansler of Corsicana, Texas.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wilson and Nellie Mae Norrell.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
