Douglas Tilden Wilson

Apr 02 1952 - Oct 22 2020

Douglas Tilden Wilson of McKinney, Texas passed away on October 22, 2020 at the age of 68. He was born on April 2, 1952 to Tilden Wilson and Marilyn (Clark) Wilson in El Dorado, Kansas. Doug graduated from Eureka High School and attended Kansas State Teacher College, now Emporia State University. Doug married Dee Painter, June 22, 1974 in Horton, Kansas. Soon after he started his career in property tax, as the Saline County Appraiser in Salina, Kansas. In 1985, he had the opportunity to move to DeSoto, TX, to work for George McElroy and Associates in Dallas as a Property Tax Consultant. In 2000, he opened his own Consulting firm, Tax Resource Network for 8 years and subsequently worked for Jim Schwalls & Assoc. for the last 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney. While the boys were growing up in DeSoto he was also very involved in Scouts and Band and Football Booster Clubs. Doug loved hunting and the great outdoors, but what brought him true happiness was bringing joy to others. During the holidays, dressing up as Santa and seeing the joy on all the children’s faces. Smoking meat, usually enough meat to feed the whole church or anyone that asked, so he could share with his friends and family to show how much he cared. Then there was the classic, “Doug smile” that could instantly brighten a room. And with a twinkle in his eyes he would say, “Thank you for coming to see me. “

Doug is survived by his wife, Dee Wilson of McKinney, Texas; sons, Michael Wilson of Grapevine, Texas, Brian Wilson and wife, Amber of Seabrook, Texas and Dan Wilson and wife, Caroline of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Hannah, Brock, Jack, Allie, and Reid; brother, Norman Wilson and wife Sue of Strong City, Kansas and many loving relatives and friends.
