IN LOVING MEMORY

Douglas Haeussler

Aug 17 1951 - Jan 17 2025

Douglas William Haeussler, age 73, passed away January 17, 2025, in Garland, Texas.  He was born on August 17, 1951, in Tecumseh, Michigan, to his loving parents Weston William Haeussler and Irma Jane (McVay) Haeussler.

Douglas grew up in Tecumseh, Michigan where he graduated high school in 1969.  After graduation, Douglas proudly served in the Seabees for the United States Navy.

Douglas met Terry Lee Staley in 1971.  She was the love of his life, and they were married on December 31, 1971, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Adrian, Michigan.  From that union came their beloved children, Casey Lee and Douglas Nathan Haeussler who brought them many years of joy and countless wonderful memories.  Douglas dedicated his work career to highway and underground utility construction and retired as an estimator in 2020.  He was an avid sportsman who loved bass and fly fishing.

Douglas had a rich and fulfilling life, both in his personal hobbies and through his involvement with others. He was an active member of the GarTex Bass Club and other fishing clubs dedicated to sharing and mentoring youth and seniors in the sport of bass fishing. Douglas’ love for fishing went beyond just a pastime—it was a passion.   He also enjoyed making custom fishing rods and lures, watching the Texas Rangers and spending time outdoors enjoying God’s creation.

His impact as a mentor meant a lot to those who were fortunate enough to learn from him and witness his love for fishing and the Lord.  His love of both provided us all with countless stories and memories.

Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Haeussler, of Garland, Texas; daughter, Casey Haeussler-Croom,  of Garland, Texas; son, Doug Haeussler and his wife Kristina, of Lucas, Texas; grandchildren, Keaton Croom,  Kathryn Haeussler, Leighton Croom, Avery Haeussler, and Loren Haeussler; siblings: Mike Haeussler, of Terrell, Texas, Barb Moore, of Mesquite, Texas, Debbie Czmer, of Layton, Michigan, Tommy Haeussler, of Rockwall, Texas, and Amy Roberts, of Argyle, Texas; and a host of extended family members and friends, who will truly miss him and forever cherish his memory.
