Mrs. Andrews, my name is Gabe Levitt. I don’t know if you are still receiving these messages, but I only today found out that Doug had passed away and wanted to reach out. I am so very sorry for your tremendous loss. Doug and I worked together at Kenning for several months in 2003-2004 and then he was a client of mine from 2004-2011 while at Kemper (I was Kemper’s insurance broker during that period). We stayed in touch and talked periodically, including a few months ago when Doug called me out the the blue to catch up after thumbing through his phone contacts and seeing my name. We talked for over an hour. I was such a huge fan of Doug’s and considered him a friend, not just a business colleague. Always smiling. Very funny. The best run-off insurance guy around. Again, my deepest condolences. I hope you and your family are managing as well as you can through this brutal time. Best, Gabe Gabe Levitt, October 26, 2017 I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Both of my sons have notified me of his passing. Doug was a really nice friend to both Sean and Terry Jr. . When telling me of his passing, they said they didn't have any details of what had happened. Sean is in England and Terry lives in Lake Forest. I will pray for him on Sunday at St. Edwards Church. My condolences to the whole family. Mrs. Terry McCann Sr., October 5, 2017 Doug was a huge man surpassed only by his bigger heart and sense of humor. The Monarch Bay Outrigger Club could not have 'done it' without him. Sean P McCann, October 4, 2017 Doug, you were the best brother in law! Your sudden passing has hit me hard. You were so genuine and I admired that so much! You were one of a kind! I will miss your humor and presence in this life, but I know we will all be together again one day. Aloha, Love you always, Dorothy Dorothy Ditzel, October 1, 2017 my prayers go out to y’alls entire family. Doug was one of the funniest and sweetest men i’ve ever met. he will be dearly missed. Danielle Dousharm , September 30, 2017 Dear Barbie -we lift you and Connor, Braden and Keely up in prayer. We are so sorry for your great loss and want you to know we're here for you. Megan Thomas Megan Thomas, September 26, 2017 I worked as a consultant and advisor to Doug and the rest of the management team during the ten + years of the Lumbermens run-off. Also, recommended Doug for the AIG job. Have a boat load of good memories from those times. In his own way he was a good insurance leader and manager. My sincere condolences to the entire Mc Andrews family . jim schacht, September 26, 2017 I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Doug 7 years ago at an insurance conference. He came up to the bar with his long hair, flip flops, not a care in the world and a big smile. We immediately hit it off and shared so many stories about our families, travels and life. Doug not only became a very close friend but a mentor. He loved his family so much especially his Queen Barbie. We spoke once a week on the phone and when his travels brought him to NYC we would meet up for a beer. If we grew up together we would have been childhood friends. Doug reminisced about growing up on the West Coast, surfing with his brother and enjoying the good life. He always had a great story which involved his family. Doug extended an open invite to stay in Hawaii at his residence, unfortunately I never got the chance to take him up on his generous offer. Doug truly lived life to the fullest. Doug was not only super smart he had street smarts. He would walk into a room and his positive energy radiated and caught everyone's attention. I wish there were more Doug Andrews in this world, the world would be such a better place. I will light a few candles at St. Patrick's Cathedral in his memory and cherish the time I had with him. Someone once said this to me when I lost someone: No one truly dies until the last person who has a fond memory of that person dies. Only then does that person truly die and leave the world. I hope you can find solace in those words as I did. With great sorrow. Eric Fritsch Eric Fritsch, September 25, 2017 During the years I served on the Kemper Insurance Board and Doug was CEO, I was always impressed with his professionalism, integrity and dedication to mission. He will be remembered fondly. Condolences to the entire Andrews family. Art Massolo, September 25, 2017 My deepest condolences to the Andrews family. Doug will be missed by many. Lori McHale, September 24, 2017 Barbie, please accept my most sincere condolence at this time.
