IN LOVING MEMORY

Douglas Clark Turquette

Sep 19 1946 - Jan 23 2024

Douglas Clark Turquette passed away January 23, 2024, at the age of 77 in Anna, Texas.  He was born September 19, 1946, in Dallas, Texas to Raymond Edgar Turquette and Jeanette (Dosher) Turquette.

Doug graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas in 1964 and attended North Texas State University. He married his first wife Linda Harrison on October 15, 1966, in Minneola Texas.  They had 3 children. Steven, Bryan, and Timothy.

He married his current wife Carol Millet, on September 30, 1996, and was stepfather to her children Casey and Hayley.  He leaves this life as a beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, and dearly beloved life partner to Carol, whom he loved deeply.

1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails.

He spent the first half of his career with the Dallas Morning News before discovering his true calling as a peace officer.  He retired from the Collin County Sheriff’s office in 2015 after 20 years of service.

He held, first and foremost, a deep love and respect for the Native American culture.  He also had a great passion for the outdoors and loved camping with his brothers Mark and Lynn and traveling in his RV with his wife.  He enjoyed playing the dulcimer and engaging in fellowship with the Red River Valley Dulcimer club.  He had an artisan’s hand in fashioning leather into symbols that spoke of who he was.  His fascination with the history of our country would inspire in him a child-like wonder.  He spent hours of time traveling to see various court houses in the state.  He tried his hand at painting which reflected the peace he sought in his life.  Patriotic values of America ran in his blood, but he was Texan to the bone.  He developed a passion for collecting and tinkering with antique sewing machines which to this day fill his and Carol’s home.  Over the years he became a doting caretaker for his three pups.  They return his affections as if it were the air that they breathe.

He was a man of his time and context.  He was loved by God and pursued by him as only the Father can do.  He was touched to the heart by the words of a beloved friend and preacher Skip Pilgrim.  He was enveloped in the Fathers love and baptized into Christ in 2015.  He has now entered the rest that the Father has promised to those of his children who trust in him.

He is survived by his wife Carol Turquette of Anna, Texas; children Steven Turquette and his wife Jennifer of Leander, Texas; Bryan Turquette and his wife Angelia of Sache, Texas; Timothy Turquette and his wife Darla of Wylie, Texas; their mother, Linda Land of Garland, Texas;  Casey Britt of McKinney, Texas; Hayley Weber and husband Justin of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren Jarod, Kimberly Madison, Jason, Chloe Grace, Sophia, Daniel, Abby, Ethan, Emma, Eleanor, James, Colin and Dylan; sister in law, Linda Turquette of Alaska and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends, including his best friend of many years, TD Allison.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond Lynn Turquette and Mark Edward Turquette.
