IN LOVING MEMORY

Dorothy Jean White

Oct 29 1931 - Dec 05 2019

Dorothy Jean (Foster) White of McKinney, Texas passed away on December 5, 2019 at the age of 88. She was born on October 29, 1931 to Harol and Robbie Foster in Houston, Texas. While attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, she met the love of her life, Elliott White. They married on May 26, 1951 in McKinney, Texas, where Dorothy remained for the rest of her life.  She stayed home raising her 3 children, Robilyn, Mark and Kevin, and once they were grown she worked as a substitute teacher for McKinney ISD.  She was a devout Christian, attending First Baptist Church of McKinney, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years.  Dorothy was a member of the Owl Club and several bridge clubs. She continued to play bridge weekly until she passed. She also enjoyed working in her yard, reading and snow skiing (until the age of 79!).

Dorothy was adored by all who knew her, and was known not only as Dorothy, but was often referred to as Dorothy-Jean, Dot, and Meme.  Her laughter, empathy for others and sincere kindness will be some of her most remembered traits.  She made people feel like they were the most special person ever; her grandchildren often joked that they were each her favorite because that’s how special she made them feel.  She also had her many sayings, which are now being passed down from generation to generation.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kevin White and his wife, Dani of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Robilyn Reed and her husband, Benjie of Mexia, Texas, daughter-in-law, Laurie Witt; grandchildren, Justin Reed and his wife, Isabel, Allyson Stanton and her husband, Tyler, Valarie Friday and her husband, Stephen, Kary Cataldie and her husband, Sam, Whitney Hengstebeck and her husband, Chris, Taylor Carver and her husband, Ethan, Blair Mirabito and her husband, Chris, Michael White and his wife, Brittany; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and other loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott White; son, Mark White; brother, Randal Foster; and parents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 1615 West Louisiana Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Memorial donations can be made in Dorothy's name to First Baptist McKinney Senior Adult Ministry.
