Dorothy (Skinner) Cox of Dallas, Texas passed away on March 20, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born on February 14, 1926 to Joseph Leon Skinner and Emily Elma (McDowell) Skinner in Westminster, Texas. Dorothy graduated from the US Cadet Nurse Corps in 1948 and became a registered nurse. She eventually earned a baccalaureate and a master’s degree in related fields. She retired from nursing after more than fifty years. She married Webb H. Cox, Sr. on December 20, 1948 in Rockwall, Texas. Dorothy was a member of the Valley Creek Church of Christ in Mesquite, Texas.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Henry Cox and wife, Karen of Garland, Texas; daughters, Barbara Cox of Dallas, Texas and Betty Rosenthal and husband, Brent of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Crystal Rosenthal and husband Scott Gleeson, Benjamin Rosenthal and wife, Laura, Lauren Rosenthal and Leah Rosenthal; 2 great-grandchildren, Henry and Daphne Rosenthal; and her sister, Juanita Bartlett of Trenton, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emily Skinner; husband, Webb H. Cox, Sr.; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of 150 guests will be allowed to attend the Memorial Service.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
