Dorothy Ann Barga of Allen, Texas passed away on February 5, 2020 at the age of 71. She was born on August 21, 1948 to Wesley “Buck” Nelson and Almeta Lee (Boyett) Farris in Waco, Texas. Dorothy grew up in Killeen, Texas and graduated from Killeen High School in 1966. She married James Michael Barga on September 3, 1966 in Fort Hood, Texas. She worked as a loan officer at Hoodview Credit Union and National Bank both in Killeen, Texas. Dorothy was a former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Paul Chong Hassang Catholic Church. She was a current member at St. Jude Catholic Community, Allen, Texas. She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing slots, playing bingo, shopping and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Barga of Allen, Texas; daughter, Michelle Landeros and husband, Ricardo of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Landeros and wife, Heather of Van Alstyne, Texas and Maria Helmberger and husband, Justin of Anna, Texas; great grandchildren, Westin Landeros and Aiden Landeros; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Almeta Farris; brother, Cecil Hamilton; sisters, Vivian Hamilton Dishman and Linda Gillen.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Killeen City Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
