Dorothy “Sugar Doo” Hendrix passed away February 14, 2024 at the age of 75 in Princeton, Texas. She was born January 16, 1949 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Hugh Robinson and Irene Hunigan.
She grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and graduated high school there. Dorothy received her associate degree from Coffeyville Community College. She met Kenneth Hendrix through mutual friends, and they were married in 1973. Dorothy and Kenneth welcomed their son Keith into the world followed by Kevin. She retired as a bank teller at Bank of America at the age of 62 after working numerous years at Sears and as a bank teller Dorothy always had the longest line, people wanted to talk with her and didn’t mind the wait.
Dorothy was a god-fearing mother, wife, aunt, and grandmother. She was a great cook that made delicious meatloaf, lasagna, and other fine dishes. In Coffeyville, Kansas Dorothy was well known and adored by all. In 2018 Dorothy moved to North Texas to be closer to her family. She maintained her diligent support of Kansas University basketball, even when she moved. Dorothy loved watching cooking shows, home shopping network, and family Feud.
She is survived by her son, Keith Hendrix and wife, Sheila of Anna, Texas; son, Kevin Hendrix of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Kyrah and Korbin Hendrix of Anna, Texas; sister, Doris Anderson and husband, Charles of Topeka, Kansas and sister-in-law, Joyce Cartwright and husband, Riley of Gilbert, Arizona along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hendrix and parents, Hugh and Irene Robinson.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
