Mrs. Dorothy Reid, age 87, of Allen, Texas passed away February 20, 2004, at the Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Texas. She was born August 14, 1916, in Waco, Texas to Adolf Henry and Elizabeth (Chandler) Wittlif. Mrs. Reid served in the U.S. Army. She was a veteran of World War II, having served in New Guinea. On April 23, 1949, she married Harry Reid in Kermit, Texas. Mrs. Reid was a health care dietician and a member of the First Baptist Church in Plano. She is survived by her son, Jim Reid and his wife, Kris of Ashburn, Virginia; daughter, Mary Beth Reid of Allen; grandchildren, Jeremy Hammond, Justin Hammond, Shawn Hammond, Leigh Bennett and Susan Wilmot; 3 great-granddaughters; brother, Charles Lawrence Wittlif; and nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Her husband and parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Plano. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday at Garrett’s Bluff Cemetery in Lamar County, Texas. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
