IN LOVING MEMORY

Dorothy Louise Lewis

Feb 28 1921 - Sep 02 2025

Dorothy Louise Lewis of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the remarkable age of 104. She was born on February 28, 1921, in Guide Rock, Nebraska, to parents Clarence Marion Taylor and Bertha Ohmstede.

Dorothy grew up in Guide Rock and graduated from Guide Rock High School. She went on to study at the University of Nebraska before later continuing her education in Houston, Texas. On a beautiful day in Houston, she married the love of her life, Wendell Leslie Lewis, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work.

Over the years, Dorothy worked as a secretary, at H&R Block Accounting, and in real estate, but she was also a devoted homemaker whose warmth and dedication enriched her family’s lives. She was a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Dorothy will be remembered as a woman of many talents and passions. A true culinary expert, she was known for her holiday pies—especially her apple pie—which became a family favorite. She was also a skilled “card shark,” often winning at friendly games, and a gifted gardener with a special love for fig trees. With a curious mind and a lifelong love of learning, Dorothy brought joy and inspiration to those around her.

She is survived by her son, Warren Lewis and his wife Beverly of Plano, Texas; her daughter, Marian Coley of Plano, Texas; her grandchildren, Dr. Kay Lewis of Grapevine, Texas, Amy Coolidge and husband Andy of Frisco, Texas, Brian Lewis and wife Kristin of Austin, Texas, David Coley and wife Shan Sha of Allen, Texas, and Meredith LaGrasse and husband Robert of St. Charles, Illinois; and her great-grandchildren, Vivian Morgan and Elliot Morgan of St. Charles, Illinois, Drew Coolidge, Madison Coolidge, and Chase Coolidge of Frisco, Texas, and Kait Lewis of Austin, Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, 75013.
