Dorothy Lee Mathis

November 26, 1930 - June 10, 2019

Dorothy Lee Mathis of McKinney, Texas passed away June 10, 2019 at the age of 88.  She was born on November 26, 1930 to Harry Preston Hamill and Pearl (Darland) Hamill in McKinney, Texas where she was reared.  Dorothy was a graduate of McKinney High School in McKinney.   She married Alvin Troy Mathis on July 27, 1948 in McKinney, Texas.   Dorothy worked as a cashier at Safeway for 35 years until her retirement in 1986.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  Dorothy was of Baptist faith.

She is survived by her children, Dianne Ogburn and husband Mickey of McKinney, Texas and Gary Mathis and wife, Cheryl of Anna, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Mathis of Anna, Texas, Nicole Hutchins of McKinney, Texas, Justin Phebus of McKinney, Texas, Meranda Phebus of Anna, Texas and Michael Rountree of Grand Prairie, Texas; great-grandchildren, Nick, Hali, Chloe, Lauren, and Corbin Hutchins, Adam Phebus, and Katy Phebus; many other loving family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Mathis, parents, Harry and Pearl Hamill; and brother, Jack Hamill.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
