IN LOVING MEMORY

Dorothy Lafferty

Aug 29 1944 - Mar 29 2023

Dorothy passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 78 on March 29, 2023 at Medical City of Plano.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lou Lafferty, her children, son Dave and his wife Becky, son Michael and his wife Michele, and daughter Carolyn.  She was a proud, devoted Nana to Cameron, Caitlyn, Payton, Dawson, Shelbi, Chase and Colby as well as great grandchildren Adrian and Cori.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Carman and Rosamond Hazelwood and brother, Don Hazelwood.

Dorothy was born in Sudbury, Ontario Canada then moved to the U.S. in 1985. After arriving in North Texas, she returned to real estate and continued her career for another 20 years, something she enjoyed doing almost as much as spending time with family.

Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted wife of 57 years, a loving mother to her children, and someone who was kind, caring, and thoughtful. She was passionate about serving the community and generous with her time and contributions to many local charities. She was born into a religious family, was strong in faith and a member of First United Methodist in McKinney, Texas.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Dorothy’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/dorothy-lafferty. The recorded version will be available at the same link location after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest you make a donation to your favorite local charity (some of Dorothy’s favorites were Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, Samaritan Inn, Habitat for Humanity) and help us continue her legacy of giving by staying involved.
