Dorothy Diane Kulas of Frisco, Texas, passed away on June 1, 2024 at the age of 76. Dorothy was the second child born to Casemere and Lucille Rutkowski on September 22, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan.
Dorothy grew up in the Detroit area and met her husband, Walter Michael Kulas, there. The couple married on September 30, 1967, and spent the next 39 years together before Walter’s passing. Dorothy and Walter enjoyed many years together in Michigan, hosting numerous family gatherings, entertaining regular dinner guests, going on camping trips and raising their family. Walter’s work took them briefly to the Orlando area and then to Keller, Texas. Dorothy spent her later years in Collin County, living with her daughters.
Dorothy was a proud homemaker known for her culinary skills. Her Polish meatballs were a highly sought-after dish at holiday celebrations, and she spent countless hours baking homemade cookies and treats for her family and friends to enjoy. She had an eye for decorating, which she utilized in co-running a small business specializing in faux flower arrangements and holiday wreaths that were sold at local craft fairs. Dorothy was a fan of trying her luck playing blackjack and slot machines on trips to Las Vegas and other casinos. She enjoyed watching historical-based romantic movies and TV shows and was an avid player of games. She was very fond of the family dog, Nala, and spent frequent time cuddling and playing with her as well as loved surprising her with new play toys.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Paul) Dennington of Prosper, Texas; daughter Nicole Souther of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Nicholas, Teagen, Colin, Quinn; great-grandchild, Holland; sisters, Elaine Pilarowski; Rose (Eric) Swanson; and many other family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, and siblings Nancy, Patty, and Barry.
