Doris Yvonne Cooper (Byrd), 85, Tom Bean, passed away on Monday, April 1st 2024. She passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes.
Doris was born on September 10th, 1938 to S.W. and Nancy Byrd in Alexandria, LA. She was born 4th in order of her 8 siblings.
Doris married Clifton Cooper in 1953. Doris and Clifton went on to have seven children, Clifton Jr (Nikki), Robert (BO), Kathleen, Julie Ann, Jerry, Terry, and Walter.
After having an accident where she sustained a broken neck in 1992, Doris relocated from Dallas, TX to Tom Bean, TX where she was cared for by her son BO and his wife Debbie. She decided to remain in Tom Bean after making an almost complete recovery from her injuries. Doris spent her later years enjoying small town life and visiting her kids and grandchildren. Doris enjoyed decorating her yard and sitting on her porch watching the passersby. Doris could also be found in front of her TV enjoying a good episode of Law and Order Special Victims Unit or a good western. Doris enjoyed listening to “old country” music. Doris loved flowers, in particular yellow roses.
Doris was predeceased by her parents (SW and Nancy), her brothers, Hugh (Pal) Booney, Rodney Byrd, Bruce (Bootsie) Byrd, James Byrd, and Eugene Byrd, and sister, Ruth Ann Byrd Ryland. Doris was also predeceased by her children’s father, Clifton Cooper SR. She is survived by her only remaining sibling, Judy Byrd Lashney of Alexandria, LA. Doris is survived by her children, Clifton (Nikki) and wife, Mona, of Alvarado, TX, Robert (Bo) and wife, Debbie, of Tom Bean, TX, Kathleen and husband, Dan Barnes, of Weatherford, TX, Julie Ann of Lavon, TX, Jerry and wife, Rhonda, of Balch Springs, TX, Terry of Tom Bean, TX, and Walter and his wife, Tonya, of Kaufman, TX. Doris is survived by 20 grandkids, 35 great grand kids, and 12 great great grand kids.
A graveside service will be held at Vittitoe Cemetery on Sunday, April 14th, 2024 at 3p.m. A reception will be held directly following the service. Details are still in the works.
