A Life Full of Love, Laughter, and Adventure

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Doris LaDale Horne, who passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, in Macon, Georgia, at the age of 70. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and joyful spirit.

Born on January 24, 1956, in Brownfield, Texas, to Doris Louise S. Dawson and J.T. Harrell, Doris graduated from Estacado High School and later completed college courses in nursing. Her caring nature led her to become a sitter and companion for people in need. She moved to Houston and then to Louisiana, where she lived most of her life, and spent her final year with her mother in Macon.

She treasured her family and enjoyed bringing loved ones together. She went above and beyond to help others and was known to give the shirt off her back, even when she had little to give.

Traveling was one of Doris’s greatest joys. She loved to ride and explore new places, and her favorite saying, “Let’s go,” captured her adventurous spirit. Even when life brought challenges, she kept pushing forward and doing as much as she could. Her loved ones will remember her energy, laughter, generous heart, and the joy she brought to others.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her mother, Doris Louise S. Dawson; her daughter, Tangela Sampson of Dallas, Texas ; her son-in-law, Timothy Sampson; her grandsons, Jordan Holmes and Kaden Sampson; her siblings, Elmer Young of Oklahoma, Lonnie Harold of Louisiana, Christopher Scales of Georgia, and Cynthia Moore of Lubbock, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.T. Harrell; her two younger brothers, James “Steven” Harrell and John “Dennis” Jones; and her mother-in-law, Sandra Coleman, with whom she shared a special relationship.

Her life was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the stories, memories, and lives she touched.

An inurnment service for Doris LaDale Horne will be held on October [day], 2026, at [time] at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas.
