Doris Joan “Joanne” (Taylor) Murdock of Plano, Texas passed away on January 10, 2019 at the age of 82. She was born on July 7, 1936 to L.J. and Emma (Smith) Taylor in Colorado City, Texas. Joanne was a graduate of Colorado City High School. She attended North Texas State University as a journalism major. Joanne married Mackey Murdock on December 28, 1954 in Colorado City, Texas. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to being a homemaker, Joanne was the secretary at W.B. Cooper Elementary School for 12 years and later moved to the Personnel Department at the Administration office for Garland I.S.D. Joanne retired in 1991 after 24 years of service. She was a generous and compassionate friend to many, especially her confidante and friend, Tatum Ash. The family would like to thank her loving care givers, including Brennon and Keyton.
Joanne is survived by her daughters, Sheri Murdock of Quinlan, Texas and Julie Murdock of Allen, Texas; grandson, Shane Chavoya; and many other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L. J. and Emma Taylor; her husband, Mackey Murdock; and her granddaughter-in-law, Christine Chavoya.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
